The Dunedin Railway Station is fully tenanted, following
confirmation Dunedin Venues Management Ltd (DVML) has leased
a space there.
From March 1, DVML will lease the Porters' Lounge from the
Dunedin City Council for two years. The former restaurant
site had remained vacant since May 31. However, its 220sq m
kitchen was leased to a boutique bakery from June 1.
Last week, DVML chief executive Darren Burden said the the
lounge joined the 30 rooms at Forsyth Barr Stadium and 10 at
the Dunedin Centre available for hire. A council spokeswoman
confirmed the station was fully tenanted at $140,000 per
annum, but declined to release details of the DVML rental.
''As with all commercial lease arrangements, the agreed terms
and conditions are confidential to the parties involved.''
She confirmed redecoration and cleaning the 431sq m space
leased by DVML cost the council $8500.
Station tenants also include Taieri Gorge Railway, New
Zealand Sports Hall of Fame, Peasant Bakery, Otago Art
Society and NZ Refreshments Ltd.
