NHNZ subsidiary NHNZ Moving Images is up against one of the
world's largest media organisations in the 2013 Focal
International Awards.
The Dunedin documentary production company has been nominated
for the Footage Library of the Year Award, alongside United
States giant Getty Images.
''We're pretty delighted. It's a fabulous award. It
recognises footage licensing and use of footage in
documentaries,'' NHNZ Moving Images archive director Caroline
Cook said yesterday.
The 18 awards acknowledge excellence in the manage- ment and
use of library footage. NHNZ Moving Images sells footage and
outtakes from NHNZ documentaries and represents National
Geographic Channels Worldwide library of footage. It is the
largest online repository of New Zealand documentary archive
footage in the country.
Focal (the Federation of Commercial Audiovisual Libraries
International) was founded in 1985 to promote the use of
footage, images, stills and audio in all forms of media
production.
The other finalists in the best library category are Getty
Images, of the United States, and English organisation
Videoplugger.
The 10th annual Focal International Awards will be presented
at a black-tie ceremony at the London Lancaster Hotel on May
2.
