When Alan Bond met Irene Nuttall, it was at his sister's
wedding in Nottingham, England.
It was love at first sight. The only issue was, he had
brought another woman to the wedding as his date.
With a sparkle in his eyes, the 83-year-old recounted how he
had dropped ''the other girl'' off at her home and then
returned to pick up his future wife.
Mrs Bond (81) chuckled as Mr Bond raised his hands in
''What? She was a very attractive woman,'' he said.
And it turned out she was ''the one''.
Over time, the couple talked and learned more about each
other and, on March 7, 1953, they married at St Andrew's
Anglican Church, in Nottingham.
Sixty years later, the couple celebrated their diamond
wedding anniversary at their Ocean View home yesterday - as
much in love as they were the day they were married.
Mrs Bond was surprised how quickly the time had passed.
''Each day doesn't seem to go that fast, but when you look
back, it's flown.''
