Competitors make their way out of Forsyth Barr Stadium in
Dunedin yesterday at the start of the Stadium to Surf 10km
fun run and walk.
About 2000 people took part in the race, a significant
increase on the 1200 who competed in last year's inaugural
event.
The race started at the stadium and finished at the Esplanade
at St Clair.
Organiser Matt Black was delighted with the turnout and
believed the event was establishing itself on the local
athletic scene.
Victoria Beck won the women's 10km run in a race record time
of 38min 06sec. Peter Meffan also set a race record in
winning the men's run in 33min 06sec.
