The victim of a gang fight who allegedly punched and kicked a
Good Samaritan, and then stole his car, has been arrested by
Dunedin police.
A 26-year-old man has been charged with robbery and driving
while disqualified, and was expected to appear in the Dunedin
District Court this morning, Senior Sergeant Brian Benn said.
Police executed search warrants after locating the stolen car
yesterday.
The Good Samaritan was driving through Corstorphine at 8pm on
Wednesday, when he saw a patched gang member being hit by
three other patched gang members. The motorist helped the
victim into the passenger side of his car, before fleeing.
Later, the victim punched and kicked his rescuer and then
drove off with his 2001 silver Subaru Legacy. The vehicle was
found in South Dunedin.
