Police ask for return of alarm lost at party callout

Police are appealing for the return of a personal alarm, after it was lost in North Dunedin early yesterday.

St John staff were called to the area after reports a male was unconscious and vomiting at a large Clyde St party.

Senior Sergeant Steve Aitken said police were called to assist, as was the Fire Service when a large bonfire was lit by a nearby flat.

As a result, a Dunedin student, a Christchurch student and a Dunedin high school pupil ''were locked up for fuelling the fire''. The trio were arrested and charged with an act endangering safety, and were expected to appear in the Dunedin District Court on Thursday.

During the incident an officer lost their personal alarm - used to notify police communications in the event of an emergency, he said.

That alarm was triggered at 3.30am near the area where the party was held,Police were requesting the return of the alarm, which had been sending off an alarm every 30 seconds and had since been deactivated.

''It is of no use to anyone else and we want it returned,'' Snr Sgt Aitken said.
