'NZ's Got Talent' auditions today and tomorrow

The first phase of auditions for television variety show New Zealand's Got Talent will be held in Dunedin today and tomorrow.

The Toyota Talent Tour will travel around New Zealand over the next six weeks, searching for singers, dancers, magicians, comedians and variety performers of all ages to take part in the third series of the talent show.

The last series attracted controversy when 19-year-old Dunedin singer Kylie Price, who was widely considered a leading contender, had to withdraw from the semifinals after her refusal to sign an exclusive contract. Two months later, she won Australasia's biggest country music festival - the Tamworth Country Music Awards.

TVNZ spokeswoman Meredith McGrath told the Otago Daily Times at the time the contract conditions were imposed by Imagination Television Ltd. The auditions will be held at Otago Boys' High School from 2pm to 8pm today and tomorrow. The New Zealand's Got Talent prize package includes $100,000 and a 2013 Toyota RAV4.
