The $29 million site redevelopment at Speight's brewery in Dunedin is on track to be completed by the end of this year, as planned.

Lion external relations manager Jude Walter said contractors over the last week had begun work on the new 150,000 litre brew house by putting up seven concrete slabs.

The equipment for the new brew house was on the way from Germany by ship and would be assembled on site soon. The brew house was expected to be operating in October, Ms Walter said.

The redevelopment remained on track to be completed by December.

A new 4MW gas boiler was now in position and on schedule to be fully operational next month, she said.

Four new storage tanks set to be installed at the brewery in June or July were being stored at Hall Bros Transport Ltd's yard in Anzac Ave, with a further two on the way. Of the six tanks, three 30,000 litre tanks were made in Dunedin by Farra Engineering, with the other three made in Auckland, she said..

The project includes a new brew house, tank farm and upgraded boilers, new sales and office space, and the relocation from Canterbury of a keg plant.
