Sick of rubbish thrown out on to the road near their home,
father and daughter duo Annabel and Malcolm Lowe decided to
do something about it.
What started off as a school project for Annabel turned into
a trailer-full of rubbish and recognition from neighbours and
For a special project at school, Annabel decided she and her
friend would clean up Morris Rd near her Fairfield home.
When Mr Lowe got involved and decided the whole road could do
with a clean-up, his trailer was easily filled.
''People drive along here and they throw out their fast food
boxes and bags and they go everywhere,'' he said.
After some encouragement from neighbours about the first
clean-up, Mr Lowe and Annabel decided to have another go and
found the same problem.
For their efforts, the duo have been nominated for a Keep
Dunedin Beautiful award by the Saddle Hill Community Board.
