The Taieri Dramatic Society's costume hire is set to reopen
under new management after being closed for almost a year.
New volunteer wardrobe manager Margaret Jackson, a committee
member of the society, said previous costume mistress Di
Shirley had retired from running the service about a year
ago, and the hire clothes had been unused since.
Mrs Jackson was wardrobe mistress and patron of the South
Otago Theatrical Society in Balclutha for many years, before
moving to Mosgiel about four years ago.
She said a huge clean-up and revamp of the costume hire had
been undertaken by the committee and ''all sorts of
treasures'' had been unearthed. The clothes were now ready to
hire to the public for all occasions, from themed birthdays
to school productions.
The society was going to try a new approach, opening the
wardrobe hire once a week, on Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm, she
''We'll see how it goes for a while, and then review it.''
• The wardrobe hire is in the Fire Station Theatre on Cargill
St, in Mosgiel. Opening night is tomorrow.
