Amity Health Centre practice nurse Patsy Bennett (65)
celebrates her last day of work yesterday after 46 years
nursing, the last 22 years at the medical practice in Highgate,
Mrs Bennett said she had not had a whole year away from
nursing since her training, in Wellington, starting in 1965.
She had been part-time for several years while she had
children, and as she got older. She would greatly miss her
colleagues and patients.
Before moving to Dunedin, she worked in South Otago, where
she was born and raised, after training and working in
Wellington and Christchurch. Nursing was much less formal now
