Concert-goers gather outside an event featuring electronic
music producer Flume at the Edgar Centre last night.
At least a dozen people in various states of intoxication
were treated by St John Ambulance at the concert.
St John southern region operations manager Doug Third, who
was called in to help overloaded staff, said the level of
intoxication at the Otago University Students'
Association-sponsored event was ''disappointing''.
Speaking before the concert ended, he said a dozen
intoxicated concert-goers had been treated and three were
taken to hospital.
Acting Senior Sergeant Damian Rangitutia, of Dunedin, said
police were called after a bottleneck formed at the entry to
the Edgar Centre.
The problem was sorted after organisers decided to only check
IDs, to speed up entry.
