Horticulture apprentices Joe Tapuni (left) and Andy
Anderson were delighted to get their hands on the Bledisloe Cup
at the Dunedin Botanic Garden yesterday.
The pair helped the Otago Rugby Union sponsorship
co-ordinator, Monique Wright, set the cup up in the winter
garden for the public to view.
Both said that it was not part of their usual daily work.
''There was a bit of horticulture involved with the ferns on
the table,'' Mr Anderson said.
Ms Wright said the visit to the garden was part of an effort
to get the trophy out to the general public, some of whom
would not get to see it competed for at the weekend when the
All Blacks and Australia play at Forsyth Barr Stadium on
The trophy was also to be taken to schools, the Dunedin City
Council, Waikouaiti Events Centre and private functions.
The Bledisloe Cup and the Webb Ellis Cup will be on display
at the Sports Hall of Fame, Dunedin Railway Station, from 2pm
to 4pm today.
