Dunedin hairdressers are a cut above the rest, which is
evident from results of the industry's latest national
Three Dunedin hairdressers won top placings in the 2013 New
Zealand Association of Registered Hairdressers (NZARH)
Editorial Stylist of the Year competition and the Patrick
Cameron Photographic Challenge held in Auckland recently.
Kelsey Lyons, of Aart on St Andrew, won the next generation
category of the NZARH competition and Zaibatsu Hair Art owner
and manager Jaimee Smith won the colour category as well as
the regional award for Otago.
She also came third in this year's Patrick Cameron
competition, which was won by Moha Hairdressing owner Kylie
NZARH Otago president Jacci Harbott said there were many
exceptional hairdressers and stylists in Dunedin.
''As an association, we are really proud to have such
talented hairdressers in the city.''
The national competitions, held annually, were prestigious,
More than 40 finalists from throughout the country vied for
top honours this year, including fellow Dunedin hairdressers
Sliver owner Jackie Greig and Aart on St Andrew second-year
apprentice Lana Marshall.
Blondini's artistic director Megan Mitchell and senior
hairdresser Megan Leith, of Oamaru, were also finalists.
Overall, 384 entries from 15 regions were submitted and
winners for each region were selected alongside top placings
in all categories.
