This sketch has been constructed from a description
supplied by the victim as a likeness with similar features
to the suspect.
Police have released a sketch of the man accused of
attacking a woman in South Dunedin on Saturday night.
The 25-year-old victim escaped safely after the attack which
happened between 11.30pm and midnight near the entrance to
Bathgate Park off Hillside Road.
She described her attacker as a male Caucausian, early to
mid-20s, between 167cm to 175cm (5ft 6" to 5ft 9") in height,
medium build with broad shoulders, short light brown or fair
hair, and some wispy facial hair. He was wearing a white cap
and possibly a dark hoodie.
The woman met the man near the Oval on Princes St. The pair
then walked together along Princes St past the Kensington
Tavern and into Hillside Road.
Police say the the man was friendly and initially the victim
had no concerns about him or his behaviour. The pair parted
near the intersection of Reid Road and Hillside Road.
However, near Bathgate Park the man called out to her from
behind and make a suggestive remark.
It was then the attack occurred, police said.
He was last seen running across Bathgate Park in the
direction of Helena St and Macandrew Road.
In another incident on the same night two men are accused of
trying to abduct a woman by dragging her into a van in Vogel
St. They are in custody after appearing in court charged with
abducting a woman with the
intention of raping her.
