Police have issued a warning over an ''extremely concerning''
case of pictures of children posted on a Facebook page.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Bowman, of Invercargill,
confirmed police - including Oceanz staff (Online Child
Exploitation Across New Zealand) - were investigating photos
of children posted on the ''Southland Trader'' page.
''It is extremely concerning that photos such as these have
been posted, some of which have already been removed.''
He recommended that anyone who became Facebook ''friends''
with the site, should remove themselves from the group.
Det Snr Sgt Bowman said the public need to be aware that by
signing into a group, members of that group could access
personal information and photographs.
Users were urged to check security settings to ensure only
friends could view personal information and photographs, and
to only accept friend requests from people they knew and
