They were among about 60 pupils from 15 primary schools
around Otago who participated in the NZ Marine Studies
Centre's Marine Metre Squared Project, which is an easy way
to survey the intertidal community.
It involves monitoring a 1m x 1m square patch of your local
rocky shore once every season by recording the animals and
plants that live there and the numbers found in the measured
