Cook Annabel Langbein took three of the six top awards for
food writers at the annual New Zealand Guild of Food Writers'
Culinary Quill Awards, held in Dunedin on Saturday.
Langbein, who lives in Auckland and Wanaka, won awards in the
book category, for her cookbook Simple Pleasures; the
online category, for her website; and the broadcast category,
for the second series of her television show, The Free
Range Cook: Simple Pleasures.
Other winners were Fiona Smith (Auckland, visual), Denise
Irvine (Hamilton, journalism)and Kathy Paterson (Auckland,
A chief judge's special award was presented to Lesley
Christensen-Yule and Lindsay Neill for their reference book
The New Zealand Chef.
Otago Daily Times food writer Charmian Smith was a
finalist in the journalism category.
The awards were part of the guild's annual conference, held
at the Sargood Centre, Logan Park, from Friday to yesterday.
