School holiday survival sessions

Anglican Family Care and St Luke's on the Taieri Church are holding a school holiday parents' survival group.

The group was aimed at parents, caregivers and grandparents who cared for children in the school holidays, Anglican Care parenting programmes co-ordinator Rebecca Lovett said.

''School holidays can be a very stressful time for families, particularly if they have a limited budget.

"So the purpose of the group is to look at ways in which families can plan for the holidays to make them as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.''

The group looked at subjects such as spending time together, free and low-cost activities, how to plan activities, tips to support parents during the holidays and self-care techniques for parents.

The first session was held last Thursday at St Luke's on the Taieri Church and the second session will be held at the same venue tomorrow.

''We aim to make all of the groups fun and supportive, with sessions mostly involving discussions and activities,'' Mrs Lovett said.
