Spectators lined up to have creative photos taken as they appeared to balance and slide on the three-dimensional street painting of Dutch artist Leon Keer (pictured), titled Fantasy World of Fibre, after it was unveiled yesterday afternoon.
The anamorphic painting can only be viewed from one perspective and is activated when the viewer stands on two painted footprints.
''I'm very pleased with how it's turned out,'' Mr Keer said.
''It has been getting a lot of good reactions from people.''
Dunedin won a visit from the Dutch artist as part of the national Gigatown internet competition.
The acrylic work would last for up to two weeks, Mr Keer said.
The 43-year-old artist and his assistant, Marye Spelbos, left Dunedin yesterday to return home to Utrecht, in the Netherlands.
