A 71-year-old Palmerston man is due to appear in the Dunedin District Court today on charges of indecent assault involving 10 victims.
Dunedin police said the alleged sexual offending spanned 30 years, from 1980.
The man was arrested yesterday by Oamaru police, and bailed to appear in court.
Many charges were representative, and a considerable number of further charges would be laid, police said.
The investigation into the offending was ''protracted'' and complex, as additional victims emerged and further alleged offending was uncovered during the course of the investigation, police said.
All of the alleged offending occurred within Otago, including in Dunedin.
Police would not comment further on the case yesterday, as it was before the court.
