Former Dunedin opera singer and New Zealand showjumping
representative Jud Arthur will have a double role to play at
Ride the Rhythm next year.
The Opera Australia baritone will take part in a dressage
display and sing the New Zealand national anthem at the
Arthur grew up on the Taieri and was an accomplished
sportsman, representing New Zealand at showjumping and Otago
at rugby and basketball.
He became a professional singer when a knee injury ended his
playing career and now lives in Sydney.
''Jud Arthur's involvement has added an extra dimension to
the programme, which has shaped up to be a really exciting
equestrian event for the public,'' Ross Farquhar, of Otago
Show Jumping, said.
''The major features are punctuated by cowboy and trick
riding, which will be great family entertainment, and then
it's topped off with the Abba show Bjorn Again.''
