Student hit by tanker 'more comfortable'

A medical student struck by a petrol tanker in Dunedin earlier this month is in a stable condition.

A spokeswoman for Middlemore Hospital said yesterday Vrushali Ramakrishna Savant (25) was ‘‘more comfortable'' than she was on Saturday but she remained in the hospital's intensive care unit.

Miss Savant sustained life-threatening injuries on the corner of Frederick and Castle Sts, where she was walking at 8.25am on January 10.

She was transferred to the Middlemore Hospital ICU last Wednesday.
