Shiny shoes and sharp dance moves filled the South Dunedin
Community Hall for a rock 'n' roll jive competition on
A South Island invitational contest was hosted by the Dunedin
Rock 'n' Roll Revival Club, and attracted couples of all ages
from Dunedin, Christchurch, Timaru, Invercargill and Central
About 200 people attended and roughly half took turns on the
dance floor .
Categories for juniors included children as young as 5 years
old, while the senior section was open to those aged 60 and
Prizes were awarded on points accumulated during slow and
fast dances, and awards also went to the best-dressed
Girls and women wore colourful skirts and dresses, with
ribbons in their pony-tailed hair. Boys and men donned shiny
shoes, black dress pants and vests over shirts.
