Dunedin Botanic Garden's $6 million plant nursery and propagation facilities in Lovelock Ave are taking shape.

The frame of the propagation shed was up (front) and the slab for the glasshouse next to it was being prepared, Dunedin City Council parks and recreation project manager Hamish Black said.

A specialised glasshouse would go on to the site to cater for the environments needed for the garden's variety of plants.

At the rear of the site the wood-chip-fired boiler would go in to run the new facilities.

If the weather held, it was hoped to have the facilities built by spring, he said.
