Taieri residents are urged to check their properties for a Mosgiel woman not seen since Tuesday night.

Gae Denise Pantel (67) had not been seen since staying at a friend's house in Riccarton Rd East about 8.30pm on Tuesday.

Search and Rescue co-ordinator Nick Wells, of Dunedin Police, this morning said residents around the Riccarton Rd area were urged to check their properties including outlying farm buildings.

An intensive search of the area by dozens of LandSar volunteers failed to find her, and the search would continue today.

Her car remained at her friend's property, as did her mobile phone and credit card.

Mosgiel police were notified of Mrs Pantel's disappearance about 12.20pm yesterday.

Police, family and friends had searched Mosgiel and Kaka Point, an area Mrs Pantel had expressed an interest in visiting.

There are concerns for Mrs Pantel's safety, as she suffers from ill-health.

Anyone who sighted Mrs Pantel was urged to contact the nearest police station.
