A 25-year-old man was taken to Dunedin Hospital with serious head and arm injuries after being hit by a van in Milton.
It appeared the man was in the middle of the road in a 70kmh zone in Union St on Saturday ngiht when he was hit by a van travelling north, Senior Sergeant Craig Brown, of Dunedin, said yesterday.
It appeared he was ''affected by alcohol'' at the time of the incident, Snr Sgt Brown said.
The man was in a serious but stable condition in the intensive care unit in Dunedin Hospital yesterday afternoon.
