Cumberland St road works next week

New asphalt will be laid on parts of Cumberland St (State Highway 1) in Dunedin next week.

The New Zealand Transport Agency expects the work between Police St and Andersons Bay Rd to start on Monday night.

The $250,000 project will involve the old asphalt being dug out, the road surface levelled, and a new coating of asphalt applied.

The work will take place between 6pm and 6am to minimise traffic disruption and should be finished within five nights.

Speed restrictions will be in place and one lane of the highway closed while contractors work.
