Family ties

Photo by Peter McIntosh.About 90 descendants of the Ralston family with links to the Taieri gathered for a reunion at Allanton last weekend.

Among them were co-organisers Julia Ralston (left), holding photograph, of Philadelphia, in the United States, and Janine Tansley (right), of Dunedin, holding another photograph.

Ralston involvement with Allanton began about 1864 with the arrival in Otago of Alexander Ralston, initially from the Mull of Kintyre, Scotland.

The last of the Ralston family farms at Allanton was sold in the mid-1980s.
