Art portfolios created by four Otago secondary school artists last year have been selected to tour New Zealand in the 2014 Top Art Exhibition.
The annual touring exhibition features a selection of the NCEA level 3 visual art portfolios from 2013 which achieved excellence endorsements.
Five streams are covered: design, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.
Included in the exhibition are photographs by St Hilda's Collegiate School pupil Estelle Dippie, who received a Top Subject Scholarship; former St Hilda's Collegiate pupil Kate McDonald, who received an Outstanding Scholarship; former Wakatipu High School pupil Rosa Woods who received an NZQA Scholarship; and a painting by former Bayfield High School pupil Sarah Auckram, which was awarded an NZQA Scholarship.
Top Art provides an opportunity for secondary pupils and teachers to gain an understanding of what is required to achieve excellence endorsements in NCEA level 3.
It also allows members of the public to see the high quality of art being created in schools.
The artworks will be on display at the Dunedin School of Art Gallery (March 31-April 4), Blue Mountain College, Tapanui (April 7-11), Southland Museum and Art Gallery, Invercargill (April 14-24), Wakatipu High School, Queenstown (May 5-9) and Waitaki Girls' High School, Oamaru (May 12-16).
