Free tickets for Royal rugby available

Four thousand free tickets for the best seats at the Regal Rugby Fun Day with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Forsyth Barr Stadium on April 13 will be made available on Monday.

They can be collected from 9am at Forsyth Barr Stadium Gate A box office.

Later, at noon, tickets for remaining seats - and other seats in the stadium - would be available online at ticketdirect.co.nz, DVML marketing and communications manager Kim Barnes said.

There was a maximum of five tickets per person and while the tickets were free, the usual courier delivery charges applied.

Tickets booked online could not be collected at the box office.

Dunedin Venues chief executive Terry Davies expected thousands to turn out to give the Royal couple a warm southern welcome.

The fun day would include a Rippa rugby mini-tournament and community entertainment groups.

All Blacks Richie McCaw, Aaron Smith and Ben Smith, and Highlander and former All Black Brad Thorn would also take part in the day.

The three-hour Fun Day will start at 10am and coincide with the regular Stadium Sunday Market, which would be themed for the event.

The Duke and Duchess will attend the Palm Sunday service at St Paul's Cathedral earlier in the day. The service is open to 400 members of the public with tickets.

All ticket applications must be made by email to the St Paul's Cathedral administrator - at office@stpauls.net.nz or PO Box 5205, Dunedin 9058 - and be received by this Tuesday.

Details required include the names of ticket holders, and contact details (email, phone and address).

ID is also required when collecting tickets, although tickets will be posted to those living outside Dunedin.
