A man injured in a fall at Speight's Brewery on Monday has
Ralph Ashenhurst (48), of Port Chalmers, died in Dunedin
Hospital about 11am yesterday from injuries received,
Southern District Command Centre deployment co-ordinator
Senior Sergeant Brian Benn, of Dunedin, said.
The death would be referred to the coroner, he said.
Mr Ashenhurst fell at 9am on Monday at the brewery in Rattray
It is understood he was working on a decommissioned lift in
Robert Cameron, managing director Kone Elevators Australia
and New Zealand, the company for which Mr Ashenhurst was
working as a subcontractor, said he could not comment about
the incident as it was being investigated by WorkSafe New
Mr Ashenhurst's family had asked for privacy, Mr Cameron
A WorkSafe New Zealand spokesman confirmed it was
investigating the incident.
