All roads led to Mosgiel at Easter

They travelled from all corners of the compass.

Mobile homes from throughout New Zealand relocated to the Mosgiel A&P Showgrounds during Easter weekend.

The New Zealand Motor Caravan Association's three-day National Easter Rally was billed as ''the great journey south'' and more than 600 intrepid travellers made the trip to the Taieri.

Bill and Denise Ross spent two days travelling from Motueka for the 58th national Easter rally after buying their first caravan last year.

''We love it. It's such a fantastic lifestyle. Every other month we go on a trip,'' Mr Ross said.

Hundreds of spectators visited an open day on Sunday to explore the latest in caravans and mobile homes and the trade pavilion, with everything from washing machines, cookers, fold-up electric bikes, portable massage beds and satellite dishes to the proverbial kitchen sink.

Motorhomes had to be towed out of the muddy showgrounds on Monday after the weekend's rain.
