Organisers of major Dunedin events looking for a cash
injection should apply to the Dunedin City Council now.
The council is taking applications for its $400,000
contestable events fund for the 2014-15 year.
The fund has traditionally supported a range of major Dunedin
events, including iD Dunedin Fashion Week, the Otago Festival
of the Arts and the Mid-Winter Carnival, but council events
special projects co-ordinator Tammy Jackman said the council
also wanted to help organisers of smaller events make them
larger and to find new events that could become as popular as
The funding round opened yesterday and will close on May 23
at 5pm. Application forms are available from the civic
Event organisers considering applying could contact her to
discuss their application, Ms Jackman said.
''We want to make sure that the applications we receive are
as comprehensively completed as possible.''
The application process was subject to confirmation of
funding through the Annual Plan, which would be approved on
June 23, and funding decisions would be made by an events
assessment subcommittee after that.
Nine events received funding last year.
