Teens arrested over joyrides, car dumpings

Six teenagers have been arrested after cars were taken for joyrides and then dumped.

Sergeant Reece Munro, of Dunedin, said the teens, aged 16-19, had been arrested following at least four complaints of vehicles being taken in various parts of Dunedin, including St Kilda and City Rise.

The vehicles were found dumped in other parts of the city, he said.

Police were looking for two other vehicles, a Mitsubishi Pajero (registration HEW13) and a while 1991 Toyota Sprinter (XK2535).

He urged people who had had vehicles taken and then recovered them themselves, and not reported the offence, to contact police.

The teens were expected to appear in the Dunedin District Court this week.
