Power is back on at a couple of Dunedin sports venues hosting matches after a brief outage this evening.

The cut interrupted an ice hockey game at the Ice Stadium, on Victoria Rd, and delayed the start of the Steel v Tactix netball game at the Edgar Centre on Portsmouth Dr.

Parts of South Dunedin were also reportedly affected.

A spokesman from Delta said the company was expecting ongoing problems due to the cold and gusty weather the city was experiencing.

Tonight's cut follows several outages in the South over the weekend.

Millers Flat, Lawrence and Milton were among the regional ares to experience cuts yesterday, while around Dunedin, parts of Outram, Mosgiel and Waldronville were without power for significant periods.
