Police seek two drivers

Police are trying to track down the drivers of two cars involved in an incident north of Palmerston yesterday that could have turned into a serious crash.

Palmerston Senior Constable Stefan Witehira was called out about 2.45pm and said two cars were trying to pass a truck heading north on the Katiki straight as the truck and trailer unit were merging back into the main lane.

The first car got past, but the second collided with the truck, which was forced on to the grass verge before the driver got it back on to the road safely.

The driver of the second car stopped and exchanged information with the truck driver, but left before police arrived, Snr Const Witehira said.

Police interviewed the truck driver, but wanted to talk to the drivers of the two cars.

No-one was injured.
