The Dunedin City Council is this weekend advertising for the
job of director of a new group that will be responsible for
the economic development and marketing of the city.
The group, Enterprise Dunedin, brings together the council's
Economic Development Unit (EDU), i-Site and Tourism Dunedin.
The new group's role will include co-ordinating marketing
initiatives for Dunedin tourism and education and for
attracting investment and skilled migrants.
Staff from Tourism Dunedin, which will no longer officially
exist as an entity after July 1, are moving into the
Municipal Chambers in the Octagon next week, but will retain
their jobs and contact details until a new structure for the
group is put in place.
Council chief executive Dr Sue Bidrose said the new director
would determine that structure once they were appointed.
She hoped to make an appointment as soon as possible.
