Mother and daughter Judy (left) and Sarah Robinson celebrated the start of Dunedin Cadbury Chocolate Carnival by getting a chocolate facial.
Judy was motivated to get the facial after experiencing it last year.
''It was fantastic,'' she said.
It was Sarah's first time facing up to chocolate, but when asked if she had any anxiety, she said: ''No. I love chocolate. I'm excited.''
Erban Spa therapist Jess Jones said although the treatment was available all year, its popularity peaked during the chocolate carnival.
The treatment involved ''cleansing, exfoliating and massage'' but was essentially ''dessert on a face'', Miss Jones said, with a laugh.
Chocolate-faced and smiling, Sarah said the experience was ''great''.
''I'm loving it.''
Judy said it was ''the full chocolate experience - before, during and after''.
