A Dunedin art student has been awarded a top national prize
for emerging artists.
Cobi Taylor was the only South Island artist to win a 2014
New Zealand Art Show emerging artist award.
The annual $2500 prizes are awarded to four New Zealand
visual arts students who have been nominated by their tutors.
The other award winners were Alice King and Alvin Xiong (Elam
School of Fine Arts, Auckland) and Willough McFarlane
(College of Creative Arts, Wellington).
Ms Taylor (21) is an Otago Polytechnic Dunedin School of Art
postgraduate honours student.
Her ink and dye on stretched canvas work, Palpitations, was
inspired by the Christchurch earthquakes.
