Plan notification delay

Dunedin's second-generation district plan (2GP) is now not expected to be publicly notified until early next year, but Environment Court appeals could add another two years to the timeline, Dunedin City Council staff say.

Work to review and update the city's district plan has been under way since early 2012, and the results were due to be publicly notified - beginning a final round of public submissions - in September.

However, in a report to a recent planning and regulatory committee meeting, council city development manager Dr Anna Johnson said that date had now slipped back to early next year.

Council staff were working to confirm when notification would occur, she said.

The delay was due to the need for additional public consultation, as well as staff turnover and council resourcing constraints.
