Firearms seized after Dunedin AOS call

A Dunedin man has been stripped of his firearms following a domestic incident last night.

Dunedin Senior Sergeant Gavin Briggs said police were called to a residential address in South Road about midnight as the result of a domestic incident.

"A male had barricaded himself in a bedroom at the address where it was believed he had access to firearms and as a result the Dunedin Armed Offenders Squad was deployed to the scene.

"Basically, just after speaking with him he left the house without further incident. A number of firearms were located at the address and a 43-year-old man will be appearing in the Dunedin District Court later next week."

The firearms at the property were seized by police, Mr Briggs said.
