Police are warning people to be vigilant after a string of
registration plate thefts in the past week.
The front plate was taken from a car parked in Park St, North
Dunedin, on Saturday afternoon and another front plate was
taken from a car parked in Tay St, Mosgiel, on Friday night,
Sergeant Steve Aitken said.
The latest plate thefts came after the front plates were
taken from two cars on Wednesday.
‘‘It's odd. They are all single plates and have happened in
four or five days, so that would indicate they are all
related but they are spread out . . . so if it is the same
person, then they are mobile,'' Sgt Aitken said.
In the past single registration plates had been taken to be
used in drive-off petrol thefts, but no petrol drive-offs
were reported during last week, he said.
