Community trust to keep focus on 'real change'

The Otago Community Trust plans to continue its work towards ''real change'' by continuing to support projects helping keep people, especially youth, healthy and improve their wellbeing, chairwoman Lauren Semple says.

At its annual meeting at Toitu Otago Settlers Museum last night, the trust noted it had made $4.54 million in donations in the 2013-14 year, including $220,000 towards cycleway development and more than $200,000 towards insulating Otago homes.

Ms Semple said both projects were part of the trust's specific focus on areas where it could make ''real change'' and help create a ''healthy, happy and inclusive Otago society''.

The trust planned to increase funding to both areas in the coming year.

It also hoped to continue its work with youth education and training to help unemployed youth and those transitioning from school to work, she said.

The trust had $5 million to give in the 2014-15 year.
