A woman was pinned by a ute when the vehicle rolled on sand dunes in Waikouaiti last night.
Two people are understood to have been in the vehicle when the crash occurred on the beach at Matanaka Drive.
Emergency services were called at 11.35pm.
The woman's arm was trapped, and she sustained abrasions to her hand and a dislocated shoulder, a St John Ambulance spokeswoman said.
She was transported to Dunedin Hospital in a moderate condition.
