Beer festival refund paid at last

The organiser of the Dunedin Craft Beer Expo has finally served up a promised refund to a festival-goer left out of pocket.

Tim Rutherford, of Dunedin, complained to the Otago Daily Times last week after a promised refund for $35 worth of tokens left over from the September 20 event failed to materialise.

Staff had run out of cash on the night and organiser Matthew Black had failed to deliver on a refund since then despite repeated requests, Mr Rutherford said.

However, it appeared Mr Rutherford finally served up the promised refund late last week, following an approach by the ODT.

Mr Rutherford said Mr Black still had not responded to his emails, including another one sent last Thursday, but $35 had appeared in his bank account.

Mr Rutherford had said he emailed his details, including his bank account number, to Mr Black immediately after the event, but Mr Black told the ODT he had no record of any contact from Mr Rutherford.

''Funny how he had no details of me but managed to put the money in my account,'' Mr Rutherford said following the refund.
