Those hoping to attend the Otago Medical Research Foundation's 2015 annual dinner are out of luck.

The event is still about four months away, and tickets have sold out.

Foundation development director Steve Davie said the dinner, billed as ''A Night to Remember'', would be the third to be held in Dunedin, and had rapidly developed a reputation for delivering the best in entertainment, emotion and exhilaration.

The $200-a-seat, black tie dinner in the Dunedin Town Hall on February 20, will feature motivational and inspirational speaker Tony Christiansen, magician and illusionist Andre Vegas and the Vegas Girls, and a two-hour concert by actor and singer Shane Cortese, with The 8 Track Band.

Mr Davie was delighted with the response to the event because it was a major component of the foundation's annual fundraising strategy.

''To have the dinner sold and a waiting list in operation with 115 days still to go, is really gratifying.

''It's a real credit to our sponsors, entertainers and supporters that the full house sign is out so early.

''I am genuinely appreciative they have recognised the quality we have brought to the night and have chosen to be part of it.''

An auction would also be held, with chances to win a new $90,000 Volvo XC60 and a $50,000 travel package.

The 2013 dinner raised $37,500 for the foundation's work of establishing world-class medical research in the city, while this year's event generated a further $64,000.

Mr Davie hoped the capacity crowd of 430 at next year's event would raise between $65,000 and $70,000 for the cause.
