Armistice Day swan song

Members of two wartime clubs are coming together for their ''swan song''.

The Otago Royal New Zealand Air Force Association and the Otago Brevet Club will join forces to mark Armistice Day with a fly-past on November 11.

Fly-past organiser Paul Ward said the event would mark the end of the two clubs.

''This is our swan song. It's the last fly-past for the Brevet Club and Air Force Association,'' he said.

Five aircraft would fly in formation over the Dunedin Cenotaph about 10.45am on November 11.

Former Brevet Club president Neville Selwood (90) would be in a Tiger Moth during the fly-past, Mr Ward said.

''He's going to be flying shotgun,'' he said.

''He trained on Tiger Moths in 1941 before he went to Canada for fighter training.''

The event would commemorate those who lost their lives during conflicts in which New Zealand took part.

The fly-past would last about 15 minutes and would be followed by two minutes' silence at 11am, he said.
