A security guard was allegedly assaulted with a high-heeled shoe by a female reveller at Melbourne Cup Race Day at Wingatui on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old student had been charged with assault with a weapon and would appear in court on Tuesday, Sergeant Steve Aitken, of Dunedin, said.
The security guard was struck in the back of the head as he tried to deal with a male associate of the woman, Sgt Aitken said.
In other incidents, a 19-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were charged with disorderly behaviour and given pre-charge warnings.
