The service, held at First Church, acknowledged each of the postulants for their commitment and dedication to St John in areas including paid and volunteer work, ambulance services and youth programmes, management and as part of hard-working teams.
Among the honours invested was a Knight of Grace received by Lake Hawea resident Ian John Rae, and a Dame of Grace received by Dunedin resident Shirley Marion Hennessy.
The service was presided over by Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae, who is the Prior of St John in New Zealand. More than 500 people attended the ceremony.
